Wrought Iron Fittings BS EN 10241:2000

A selection of black wrought iron pipe fittings to BS EN 10241:2000Welcome to the ValvesTubesFittings.com blog page, if you’ve found us searching for threaded wrought iron fittings you have definitely found the right supplier for your needs today and hopefully for all your pipeline requirements in the future. We are a supplier distributor of many pipeline, fittings and valve products which include wrought iron fittings to BS EN 10241:2000, previously BS1740-1:1971 and also known as black heavy, steel threaded and steam fittings.

This comprehensive range of steel threaded pipe fittings covers many products including the usual elbow, tees, bushes and unions to three D bends in plain ended and threaded and of course the lowly but reliable barrel nipple in steel. We can offer all of these products and more to suit your requirements; this product range has a maximum working pressure of 25 bar and maximum temperature of 230°C, (this excludes barrel nipples and bends as they are restricted to pressures and temperatures associated with tube to BS EN 10255:2004).

Please note the maximum pressure and temperature only apply when used in conjunction with the correct grade of tube and suitable jointing compounds, for further information please contact our sales team to discuss your particular installation.

Wrought Iron Fittings BS EN 10241:2000 for Process Steam

Red-oxide primer painted heavy steel tube to BS EN 10255 used in a process steam system with EN 10241 wrought iron fittingsBlack wrought iron fittings have been used on process steam systems for over a century and in sizes that are no longer made. In the past, wrought iron fittings were stamped steam by some manufacturers, we have an example of a 1 3/4" wrought iron tee recovered from a factory that ran for almost two centuries before it stopped producing in 2007, after being built in 1812. The use of wrought iron fittings may then come across as outdated but we find that even in the 21st century this product range does an excellent job on process steam systems and sensibly is still widely used by process steam specialist installers and end users alike.

Some use malleable iron pipe fittings on low-pressure steam lines but in our opinion wrought iron fittings offer a longer service life and can better withstand the rigours of steam and water hammer. Wrought iron pipe fittings are used in the main in conjunction with red heavy tube BS EN 10255:2004, although both ranges are also available in galvanised strongly advice against their use in process steam systems. For more information on pressures and temperatures please discuss your requirements with us by contacting our sales team either by clicking the highlighted link or using the telephone number listed at the base of our home page, we look forward to looking after your business now and in the future.
