Butterfly Valves

Butterfly valves are most often used to regulate or isolate flow through a pipeline system, they work in a similar manner to a globe valve using a disc type closing mechanism though butterfly valves a much more lightweight and require less support. The operating principal allows for a fast shut off when necessary though butterfly valves do introduce a small pressure drop, this is because the disc is always present in the centre of the flow.
