The current industry standard for gas ball valves in full is BS EN 331:1998 which has updates and changes to 2011. Prior to this standard, gas ball valves were tested and certified by British Gas to BS5494:1978 although this standard only actually covered valves up to and including 25mm (1”) nominal bore, whereas the EN 331 standard covers approved gas ball valves up to and including 50mm (2”) nominal bore.
