Non-Return Valves for Steam Trap Installations

Installing non-return valves on steam trap installations is a priority that you cannot ignore; the correct differential pressure is essential to efficient steam trap operation and in an area where other steam traps are installed, passing traps may change that differential. A good example of this occurred on a customer’s steam system in the last few days due to an issue elsewhere on the plant; the opening of a bypass valve was necessary. This caused a change in the differential pressure that due to a steam trap that had not been fitted with a non-return valve the increase in back pressure prevented its operation. A leaking steam trap could create the same circumstances on any steam system and where a non-return valve such as SteamCheckValve have not been included the resulting back pressure can prevent normal operation.

Non-Return Valve SteamCheckValve Data

SteamCheckValve is a BSP threaded spring-loaded non-return valve manufactured from 316-grade stainless steel. The maximum operating pressure of this product is 63 bar and the maximum operating temperature is 240°C. A full data sheet is available from our sales team outlining the pressure and temperature curve associated with this product; our technical sales team are happy to help with installation advice especially when installing this product following a steam trap. This applies in particular when installing a non-return valve after a thermodynamic steam trap where adherence to minimum distance is required; we look forward to hearing from you.
